This December, the Bakhita School of Excellence (BSE) came together to celebrate the end of another joyful and transformative school year. Our end-of-year celebration was filled with colour, music, laughter, and pride as students took to the stage to showcase everything they have learned, practised, and grown into over the year. Families, staff, and friends gathered as our children confidently performed a range of items that reflected both their academic learning and cultural identity. From songs learned in Language and Literacy classes, to lively modern dance performances and beautiful traditional Timorese dances, each performance told a story of effort, teamwork, and growing confidence.
Students also presented engaging drama performances linked to Natural Science and HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), bringing classroom learning to life on stage. Through storytelling, role-play, and movement, children demonstrated their understanding of the world around them — from nature and the environment to community, culture, and daily life. These performances highlighted not only content knowledge, but creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.
One of the most special moments of the celebration was seeing students stand proudly to introduce themselves, speak clearly, and engage with the audience — a powerful reminder of how far they have come since the beginning of the year. For many children, standing on stage in front of a crowd was a huge achievement in itself, demonstrating courage, self-belief, and joy.
The performances were not just entertainment — they were a celebration of learning. Behind every song, dance, and drama piece were hours of classroom practice, encouragement from teachers, and the steady building of confidence and skills. The pride on parents’ faces as they watched their children shine was a powerful reminder of why education matters so deeply to families and communities.
We also took this opportunity to acknowledge our incredible staff, whose dedication, care, and hard work make everything at Bakhita possible. Each staff member was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their commitment to our students, their teamwork, and the love they bring to the school every day.
As the celebration came to a close, it was clear that this year has been one of growth, resilience, and joy. Our students have learned far more than reading and writing — they have learned how to express themselves, work together, and believe in their own potential.
We are immensely proud of every child who performed, every staff member who served with heart and purpose, and every family who walked beside us this year. The BSE end-of-year celebration was not just a reflection of what our students have learned — it was a celebration of who they are becoming.
Congratulations to our wonderful students and staff on a year well done.
