In September, our Founder and CEO, Ornella Byak, returned to Australia for a busy and impactful trip. Over the course of two weeks, she met with new and existing donors in both Sydney and Melbourne, sharing the latest updates from the Bakhita School of Excellence and the Bakhita English Institute. These meetings were a valuable opportunity to thank our supporters in person and to build new partnerships for the future.
Ornella also made time to catch up with volunteers, many of whom have spent time teaching or assisting in Same. Reconnecting with these dedicated friends of BETTER Timor highlighted the strength of the community that makes our work possible.
The trip concluded with a speaking engagement at an event, where Ornella shared her personal journey and the story of BETTER Timor’s mission. Her words inspired audiences to reflect on the power of education and the role they can play in changing lives in Timor-Leste.
This journey reinforced what BETTER Timor is all about: partnership, community, and shared vision. The connections made across Sydney and Melbourne will help us continue building a brighter future for children and families in Timor-Leste.
