This month, the Bakhita English Institute (BEI) was honoured to welcome representatives from INDMO (Instituto Nacional de Desenvolvimento de Mão-de-Obra) — Timor-Leste’s National Institute for Workforce Development — to our campus in Same.
Their visit was a key step in our accreditation pathway, as BEI continues its journey toward becoming a formally accredited English language training institution in Timor-Leste. Accreditation represents a major milestone in our ambition to strengthen collaboration with the Government of Timor-Leste and its SEFOPE program (Secretaria de Estado para Formação Profissional e Emprego), to help Timorese develop high-quality English education in preparation for employment opportunities — particularly through the PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) program.
The visit was also very timely, taking place just after the graduation of our first cohort of students from the Level 1 English course (BEI0001) and the commencement of our second cohort (BEI0002). This marks a new chapter of growth and momentum for BEI as we expand access to practical, employment-focused English training.
We are deeply grateful for INDMO’s guidance, time, and support throughout this process, and for recognising the vital importance of English language skills in empowering Timorese youth and community members toward brighter futures.
Together, we are building pathways for opportunity, empowerment, and a stronger Timor-Leste.
